About Uthana

What is Uthana?

Uthana is the AI platform for human motion. It provides models and data for training robots, populating simulations, and animating 3D characters. Uthana can generate motion from video or text, create controllable locomotion, transfer movement across different bodies, and prepare human motion data for AI training.

Who is Uthana for?

Uthana serves robotics and AI labs, simulation teams, 3D platforms, game engines, studios, developers, and individual creators. Self-serve models and tools are available through the web app and GraphQL API. Datasets, custom data programs, simulation work, and enterprise integrations are scoped directly with Uthana.

Models and motion

How can I create motion with Uthana?

Use video-to-motion to reconstruct a performance from ordinary video, text-to-motion to generate an action from a written prompt, or locomotion to create controllable and stylized directional movement. Generated motion can be previewed in the browser, applied to a compatible character, and exported for use in a 3D workflow.

What does video-to-motion produce?

Video-to-motion converts a human performance in ordinary video into editable, full-body 3D skeletal motion with finger movement. The result is animation data rather than a rendered video, so it can be retargeted, edited, evaluated, or exported into another pipeline.

What does text-to-motion produce?

Text-to-motion turns a natural-language description into editable 3D human motion. It is designed for creating character animation from a prompt, after which the result can be previewed, retargeted, edited, and exported.

What motion formats does Uthana support?

Self-serve motion can be exported as FBX, GLB, or BVH. Destination-specific FBX presets are available for Unreal Engine 5 and Roblox Studio. Dataset and custom deliveries can use an agreed representation and format based on the engagement.

Characters and integration

Do I need a rigged character to use Uthana?

No. You can test motion on a provided character, upload a compatible rigged character, or use auto-rigging to add a skeleton to an unrigged bipedal 3D character. Auto-rigging prepares the character for animation and retargeting.

Can Uthana apply motion to my character or robot?

Uthana retargets motion across different bipedal character skeletons and can adapt human motion to a target humanoid robot representation. Character retargeting addresses differences in bone names, hierarchy, proportions, and rest pose. Robot retargeting additionally requires the target joint structure, axes, degrees of freedom, and limits to be defined and validated.

Robot retargeting provides motion in the target representation; it does not by itself provide a complete control policy, dynamics model, or guarantee that the motion is executable on hardware.

How can developers integrate Uthana?

Uthana provides a GraphQL API for motion generation, rigging, retargeting, asset management, and downloads. The API uses the same Uthana account and credit balance as the web app. Public plugins are also available for Blender and Maya.

Pricing and usage

How does Uthana pricing work?

Uthana’s self-serve models and tools use pay-as-you-go credits with no subscription or minimum commitment. Motion generation is charged per second of generated output. Rigging and character generation are charged per operation. The web app and GraphQL API draw from the same account balance, and generated motions can be downloaded again without another generation charge.

Datasets, custom data work, simulation programs, and enterprise integrations are priced to scope.

What happened to subscriptions?

Uthana stopped offering new subscriptions in August 2026. Customers already on a subscription can remain on their current plan indefinitely unless they choose to switch. Existing subscribers can contact Uthana to move to pay-as-you-go or discuss another billing arrangement.

Uthana moved away from unlimited subscriptions because different models and operations have different underlying generation costs.

Do purchased credits expire?

No. Purchased credits do not expire. The same credit balance can be used across supported self-serve models and tools in the web app or through the GraphQL API.

Can I use Uthana’s generated outputs commercially?

Paid usage includes commercial use of generated outputs, subject to Uthana’s Terms of Use. Review the Terms for the rules governing customer inputs, output ownership, permitted use, and attribution.

Data, robots, and simulation

Does Uthana license human motion data?

Yes. Uthana’s Studio Motion Dataset contains 250+ hours of ground-truth 3D human motion captured at 120 fps on a calibrated 120-camera Vicon system. It includes full-body and finger motion and is cleaned, segmented, labeled, human-reviewed, and prepared for model training and evaluation.

Commercial training and evaluation rights are available by agreement. Teams can request a representative sample before licensing. Across all collections, Uthana has more than 1,000 hours of human motion available to license.

Can Uthana build or prepare a custom motion dataset?

Yes. A custom data program can combine new studio capture, motion extraction from video, retargeting, labeling, enrichment, and delivery against an agreed specification. Uthana can prepare action labels, temporal segments, trajectories, contact states, metadata, QA, and dataset splits when those fields can be produced reliably from the source.

Hand-object contact labels can be added as an add-on to the standard annotation set for the Studio Motion Dataset.

How does Uthana support robot training and simulation?

Uthana provides structured human motion that can be used as demonstrations or motion references for robot-training and simulation workflows. Motion can come from studio capture, video, or Uthana’s models, then be adapted to a target humanoid joint structure. Uthana has publicly demonstrated this workflow with the Unitree G1.

The receiving team remains responsible for downstream control, dynamics, safety constraints, and validation in simulation or on hardware. Uthana can also scope co-development around a specific simulation workflow without requiring the customer to replace its existing stack.
